"My work extends beyond the operating room—from teaching and research to exploring new possibilities for the future of surgery and the community."
Teaching Experiences
Teaching has been an important part of my career in medicine. I see education not simply as transferring knowledge, but as helping young doctors develop the judgment, discipline, curiosity, and responsibility needed to become good surgeons. Over the years, I have been involved in teaching medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing surgeons through lectures, surgical demonstrations, workshops, courses, and scientific meetings in Indonesia and internationally.
Research & Publication
Research has always been an important part of my work as a surgeon and educator. For me, research begins with a practical question: Can we understand what we are doing better, and can we find a better way of doing it? My academic work has covered a range of topics within plastic and reconstructive surgery, with particular interests in hand reconstructive and microsurgery, surgical education, and community care.
Ongoing & Future Projects
Medicine continues to change. New technologies, new models of education, and changing healthcare needs are creating opportunities to rethink how we practice and teach surgery. At this stage of my career, I am increasingly interested not only in what we can achieve as individual surgeons, but also in how we can build systems that allow knowledge, skills, and opportunities to reach more people.
